Starting a New Business There are certain things you must do to establish and operate a new business. Below are some of the requirements you need to know, and what to do to fulfill those requirements. Fictitious Business Name A Fictitious Business Name statement is required to operate a business under a name other than your own name. A fee is required. You will also have to publish your Fictitious Business Name Statement in a newspaper within 30 days per the rules outlined on the statement form.
