Business Sustainability

Increasing Profits through Sustainability: Find out more!  Finding new sources of revenue is more critical now than ever! Make Your Voice Heard

Take the Green Building Survey and be part of the solution. The City of Fremont is reaching out to businesses to gather input into potential green building policies for commercial facilities. Potential approaches range from voluntary programs to mandatory requirements. Your input is critical as the City considers its options. Please take a few minutes to complete this survey. If you would like to discuss this matter in more detail or have specific questions, please contact the City's Office of Economic Development at 510-284-4020.

Online resource provides Health Coverage Guide for small business owners Small Business Majority recently launched the California Health Coverage Guide, an online resource that walks employers through the complex terminology, laws and options of the health insurance marketplace and helps them determine if offering insurance to their employees is financially feasible. It helps them narrow down the types of plans best suited to their needs, and offers employers who are unable to afford coverage some suggestions on where to direct employees for health insurance.

Tax Credits

Tax breaks for hiring those unemployed for 60 days Employers may qualify for two new tax breaks when they hire someone who has not worked for more than 40 hours in the past 60 days. These breaks are part of the Hiring Incentives to Restore Employment (HIRE) Act.

IRS releases form to help small businesses claim new health care tax credit The Internal Revenue Service has released a draft version of the form that small businesses and tax-exempt organizations will use to calculate the small business health care tax credit when they file income tax returns next year.
