Leadership Fremont Class of 2026 Exceeds Goal
The Leadership Fremont class of 2026 hosted a donor appreciation night for its project sponsors on April 30, 2026 at Washington West. The class was able to exceed their fundraising goal of $35,000.
The 2026 Leadership Fremont cohort partnered with CALICO, a remarkable local nonprofit dedicated to supporting children who have experienced abuse and trauma. These children arrive at CALICO during some of the most vulnerable and overwhelming moments of their lives—to bravely share their stories, to be heard, and to begin the healing process. The compassion, professionalism, and unwavering commitment of the CALICO team create a safe haven in what can otherwise feel like an incredibly frightening time.
In 2024 alone, CALICO:
- Conducted more than 500 forensic interviews for children and teens with trained, trauma-informed professionals
- Provided support services to more than 500 families navigating crisis and recovery
Behind each of those numbers is a child who needed safety, dignity, and care—and a family who needed guidance and hope. The impact CALICO has on our community is profound, and their work changes lives every single day.
The 2026 cohort’s goal was to raise $35,000 to remodel CALICO’s bathrooms, including one used by the children. While a bathroom renovation may sound like a small project, the environment matters deeply. For a child who has just shared something traumatic, even a simple, private moment in a clean, calm, and thoughtfully designed space can restore a sense of dignity and security. A welcoming, child-friendly restroom is not just about aesthetics—it’s about creating an atmosphere that reinforces safety, comfort, and respect.
