On Monday, October 12, 2026, community leaders, elected officials, and local organizations gathered at the Fremont Downtown Event Center for Beyond the Bridge, a special documentary screening and panel discussion focused on addressing homelessness through collaboration, compassion, and innovative solutions.
Hosted by Fremont City Councilmember Kathy Kimberlin, the event featured a screening of Beyond the Bridge: A Solution to Homelessness, followed by a discussion with Fremont Mayor Raj Salwan, Newark Mayor Mike Hannon, Union City Mayor Gary Singh, and Hayward Mayor Mark Salinas. Alameda County Supervisors David Haubert and Elisa Márquez also participated, emphasizing the importance of regional partnerships in addressing housing insecurity.
The discussion highlighted successful initiatives, ongoing challenges, and opportunities for cities, nonprofits, and community organizations to work together toward sustainable housing solutions.
Fremont Chamber of Commerce Board Member Lisa Stambaugh and Director of Communications Napoleon Batalao attended in support of this important community initiative, demonstrating the Chamber's commitment to staying engaged in conversations that impact the well-being, economic vitality, and future of our region.
Thank you to Councilmember Kimberlin, the participating leaders, event sponsors, and everyone who contributed to this meaningful conversation. Together, we can build stronger, more compassionate communities!
