Chamber tours Tesla
On October 26, Fremont Chamber CEO Teresa Hoang toured Fremont manufacturer Tesla.
The Tesla Fremont Factory is one of the largest and most significant automotive manufacturing facilities in the United States and a major contributor to Fremont's local economy. Located at 45500 Fremont Boulevard, the factory serves as a major production hub for Tesla's electric vehicles, manufacturing the Model 3 and Model Y, while also preparing for production of Tesla's Optimus humanoid robots. The facility uses advanced robotics, automation, and skilled employees to manufacture and assemble vehicles. According to the City of Fremont, the factory has an estimated workforce of more than 6,000 employees, making it one of the city's largest employers. Tesla is also expanding the facility's manufacturing capabilities to support future vehicle and robotics production.
The Fremont factory originally opened in 1962 as a General Motors assembly plant before later becoming a joint venture between GM and Toyota. Tesla acquired the facility in 2010 and transformed it into its primary California vehicle manufacturing operation.
