DUES INVESTMENT SCHEDULE AND POLICIES
(Effective Oct. 1, 2019)
I. INVESTMENT CATEGORIES
A. GENERAL BUSINESS
For profit enterprises, the scheduled rate is based upon FTE (full-time equivalent) employee count. Base rate is $340.
B. INDEPENDENT CONTRACTORS
Loosely defined as individuals representing firms but not employed as regular employees by the firm. Examples might be insurance agents, real estate agents, or sales representatives assigned to specific geographical territories by firms located out of the area. Rate for each individual is the minimum base rate of the General Business Category, $340. (The membership shall be recorded as in this example: Coldwell Banker – J. Doe.)
C. REAL ESTATE FIRMS / REAL ESTATE AGENTS
1. A real estate firm may hold a membership in the firm’s name under these conditions: The broker/owner(s) plus administrative support staff comprise those covered by the membership. Rate for a real estate firm is based on FTEs, to include broker/owner(s) and administrative support staff at one location.* (See E.) Agents working for the firm are not considered members and may not exercise or enjoy the benefits of membership themselves, or on behalf of the firm (such as Connection Club membership), unless they have joined under their own personal membership.
2. Real estate agents shall be considered “independent contractors.” Rate shall be the minimum base rate of the General Business Category, $340, except in the case of condition 3 noted immediately hereafter.
3. Real estate agents working for a member real estate firm (see condition 1.) will receive a discounted annual rate on their personal membership. Discounted rate is $240. Should the agent leave the member firm and move to a firm that is not a member, their personal membership will revert to full rate at the time of their renewal. The same will apply if the member firm fails to renew its membership.
D. INSURANCE FIRMS / INSURANCE AGENTS/FINANCIAL PLANNERS
Same as “C”.
E. GROUP MEMBERSHIP, SAME-OWNER FIRMS
Defined as businesses sharing the same name and under the same ownership. Examples might be banks, fast food franchises, real estate firms, grocery, drug stores with more than one location. Rate is assessed based on the sum of FTE’s of all the locations, Plus $160 per each location.
F. NON-PROFITS, PUBLIC EDUCATION INSTITUTIONS, OR GOVERNMENTAL AGENCIES AND THEIR EMPLOYEES
Non-profit organizations are defined as organizations having the IRS 501(c)3 tax designation. Examples would be charitable associations (SAVE, American Heart Association), service or civic organizations (Rotary, Lions), business associations (CBCA, IBA) or churches. Public Education Institutions or government agencies are defined as tax supported public schools (FUSD, Ohlone), district hospitals or tax supported agencies (USD, ACWD). Rate shall be a minimum base rate of $195 for all organizations in this category, plus $1.15 per FTE (full-time equivalent employees.)*
G. INDIVIDUAL MEMBER
Any individual representing only him or herself. An individual’s membership shall not be used to promote any affiliation or employment they may have with a firm, organization, or agency. Individual members are ineligible to serve on the Chamber Board of Directors (per Bylaws). Rate for each individual is $195.
H. RETIRED MEMBER
Any individual who is 65 or older and no longer in business, representing only him or herself. A retired individual’s membership shall not be used to promote any affiliation they may have with a firm, organization or agency. Retired members are ineligible to serve on the board of directors (per Bylaws). Rate for each retired individual shall be $120.
II. ANNUAL RATE ADJUSTMENT
An annual adjustment of the entire investment schedule will be implemented based on CPI (Consumer Price Index).
III. PROCESSING / ENROLLMENT FEE
A one-time processing / enrollment fee is payable at time application is received. Current fee is $45.
IV. CANCELLATIONS
All membership dues are fully earned. Refunds, full or partial, will not be granted.
V. REINSTATEMENT FEE
There will be no reinstatement fee assessed.
